False Prophets…again

“A crop of new children’s storybook Bibles aims to reach progressive Christians who are turned off by traditional presentations of Scripture, offering messages focused on diversity, inclusion and social justice.”

This was the lead of a story published by Fox News regarding a new “Bible” that is coming out for children. If that gets your blood heating up what comes later in the story will make it boil.

“The authors said they also hope to prompt children to ask questions and challenge traditional beliefs about God, Jesus and the biblical narrative.

“‘Did that happen?’ Lewis said, describing how the storybook presents Jesus’ resurrection. ‘For me, it matters more that children know that love never dies, so that’s where I landed.’”

Are you kidding me? Did the resurrection really happen? It’s the entire foundation of our Christian faith. From Genesis (He will crush your head and you will bruise His heal) to Revelation, the resurrection of Jesus what it is all about!  Which means…this so-called “bible” is nothing more than apostate indoctrination working to divorce children from Jesus.

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (Matthew 18:5-6 New King James Version (NKJV)

I know that I’m not supposed to be surprised by this nonsense. I’m also not supposed to be angry…but I do get a bit hot under the collar. So many are apostate in the church that it’s unbearable. They want to change the gospel, they want to disbelieve God’s word, they want to indoctrinate children into another gospel, they even want to erase Jesus and His saving work on the cross!

To be blunt: This is the work of the devil plain and simple.

Thank our God that nothing can stand against Jesus and His church!

But still…what should we do about this stuff? Sit by and watch? I don’t think so. I think we should follow Paul’s model and call it out!!

I like Paul. He was a fighter. He had very sharp elbows and wasn’t afraid to throw them when people got out of line. Not only was he the apostle to the gentiles but he was a strong disciplinarian when it came to staying within the guardrails of sound church doctrine.

Paul called out those who preached another gospel other than the one he preached.

Paul called out those who were false prophets and apostate.

Paul called out sin in the church.

Paul called out those who disbelieved God’s word.

Paul called watering down the scriptures.

Paul didn’t sit idly by while people tried to hijack the Gospel. And we would be getting a strongly-worded letter from him regarding this latest attack focused on corrupting children!

“To the Church in America – Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

“What are you knuckleheads doing?”

There’s a church on the next block up from ours that is a perfect illustration. In their windows recently were hand-drawn signs – obviously made by children – embracing the LGBTQ+ community and ostensibly their doctrine. Not only is it a corruption of the kids – not teaching them sound doctrine – but this mainline denomination church has become apostate. Instead of calling out sin for what it is – sin – they embrace it believing somehow that what God has written about it in His Word is invalid because the culture has embraced it.

Jesus would being giving one of His “Woe to you…” speeches right now. Woe to you who call evil good!

I’ve made this point before, there is no such thing as a “progressive” Christian just as there is no such thing as a Black Church, or even a Baptist Church. It is Jesus’ church made up of people indwelt by the Holy Spirit through their confession of faith – one spirit, one God, one church. If you espouse a doctrine other than that which is in the Bible you are not part of this church.

Now, I don’t mind at all if people push social justice issues or whatever their issue is. Just don’t try to cloak it in Christianity and pervert the doctrine. There is plenty of social justice within the Gospel itself that it doesn’t need to be watered down or changed. There is plenty of progressive ideas in the Gospel that it doesn’t need “improving” by today’s justice warriors. But there is also holiness, righteousness, and judgment and especially for those who add or subtract to and from the Gospel.

We were told by Paul in his letter to Timothy that a day would come where men want to hear what their itching ears prefer. No doubt. But those of us who stand strong on God’s word, His doctrine, and His sovereignty – we cannot stand idly by while Satan works to corrupt a young generation of children. So, if you’re like me, say something. Don’t allow these types of apostate materials into your community and especially your church!
